Breakwater Cast and Crew Screening - 28 February 2025

On February 28th 2025 we held a private screening of Breakwater for our cast and crew. It was very special to screen at the stunning Ultimate Picture Palace in Oxford, where we first announced Breakwater three years ago in November 2022.

Behind Breakwater: Documentary Screening, Cast Q&A and Teaser Premiere

On June 9th 2023 we screened Behind Breakwater, our behind-the-scenes documentary, directed by associate producer Emma Earnshaw, tells the story of our filmmaking journey so far. Starting with the first days in Suffolk, interviews over the course of the shoot with the cast and crew behind the film explore the ins-and-outs of student film-making. While our own team breaks down their experiences making a student feature-length film in the present day, interviews with the team behind Privileged offer a chance to reflect on what has changed in the industry since their own student-feature in the early 80s. Mike Hoffman, Andy Patterson and Rick Hoffman go on to discuss the importance of keeping student-filmmaking alive, memories of their own and their involvement in Breakwater so far. We also debuted the film's teaser trailer, followed by a Q&A session with our cast and crew. Check out our Youtube to see the full documentary.

The Breakwater Gala

On February 11th 2023, Breakwater was honoured to host our art gala and auction at Oriel College, Oxford. Featuring works from both professional and student artists, including donations from Maggi Hambling CBE, Jonathan Hooper, Steven Appleby and others, the gala raised over £9000 for the production of the film, with 50% of profits going back to the student artists who contributed. The night was also the perfect debut for the film's, composed by Alessandro Mackinnon-Botti and Isabella Simpson. A huge thank you goes towards Lord Neil Mendoza and the team at Oriel College for hosting the event and making it the perfect way to kick off Breakwater's production. Take a look at the photos below to see the rest of the evening!
